Lucend delivers 14,000 MWh in energy savings

Lucend is proud to announce a significant milestone in our work toward intelligent, sustainable data center operations. To date, we have helped customers save 14,000 MWh of energy while strengthening reliability and improving team productivity. And we are just getting started.

Operating a data center in today’s rapidly evolving landscape is increasingly complex. Systems are becoming more sophisticated, IT workloads are shifting, extreme weather conditions are growing more frequent, and new PUE regulations are raising the bar. Combined with rising energy costs, efficiency is no longer optional; it is a competitive advantage. The challenge is clear: how do you maintain 99.999% uptime while meaningfully reducing energy consumption?
Intelligent, transparent AI plays a key role.

Below, we highlight how Lucend has already helped data centers achieve substantial energy savings, improved reliability, and more efficient operations.

Unlocking intelligent efficiency without additional hardware

Lucend synthesizes existing facility data into daily, actionable clarity that illuminates where operators can improve efficiency, reliability, and performance across the entire site.

With this approach, operators gain holistic intelligence without the need for additional hardware, retrofits, or complex IoT initiatives. By leveraging the infrastructure organizations already have, Lucend uncovers optimization opportunities and helps harmonize critical systems across the full data center environment. The result: reduced energy consumption, extended equipment life, and increased confidence in operational performance.

The Lucend AI Platform

Lucend’s results are powered by advanced machine learning models trained on more than 240 billion data points and validated closely with data center operations teams.

Our process begins with collecting data from key facility systems. Lucend’s SaaS platform analyzes this data to identify inefficiencies, quantify potential savings, and validate findings. When needed, we collaborate with on-site teams to co-create implementation plans that ensure changes are carried out effectively and safely.

After implementation, operators use Lucend to continuously monitor the impact of adjustments, ensuring the environment remains aligned with the changing dynamics of the data center.

Lucend Success Stories

Below are examples of how we’ve collaborated with customers to achieve meaningful energy savings across different areas of their operations.

1. Cooling efficiency

As one of the most energy-intensive components in data center operations, cooling represents a significant opportunity for improvement.

Lucend’s machine learning models are trained to identify optimization opportunities, inefficiencies, and malfunctions across a wide range of cooling architectures, including hybrid chillers, dry coolers, cooling towers, indirect air cooling, and water-sourced systems. Across customer environments, this analysis revealed recurring issues such as chilled water ring imbalances, malfunctioning dry coolers, blocked filters, and failing 3-way chiller valves.

In many cases, operations teams suspected inefficiencies but lacked validation or quantification. Lucend provided that clarity through transparent data trails and prescriptive recommendations. In other instances, our models uncovered issues teams were unaware of — even in newer facilities running differently than designed.

Working alongside operations and design teams, we reviewed findings, quantified impact, and provided clear recommendations. After implementation, Lucend delivered enhanced monitoring to ensure savings were realized without compromising SLAs.

Cooling-focused optimizations have delivered 6,200 MWh in energy savings to date, while also reducing equipment strain, improving reliability, and extending asset life.

2. Data center cooling harmonization

Cooling also benefits from a fully integrated view. When one component of a system is misaligned, other systems compensate, often consuming more energy, increasing wear on equipment, and placing additional stress on operations teams.

Lucend’s holistic analysis consistently uncovers these system-level inefficiencies. Common opportunities include CRAC and CRAH tuning, chilled water ring setpoints, fan speed optimization, modulating valve adjustments, and improvements to floor pressure and differential pressure.

Lucend reduces complexity by highlighting where adjustments will have the highest impact. We then collaborate with local teams to plan implementation and use the platform’s monitoring capabilities to ensure savings are achieved without unintended consequences and remain compliant with ASHRAE standards.

Across multiple facilities, these harmonization efforts have delivered 4,300 MWh in energy savings, improving uptime, strengthening asset reliability, and giving teams greater confidence in daily operations.

3. UPS efficiency

In 2023, we expanded our work to include UPS systems by integrating UPS data into the Lucend platform.

Our analysis showed that many UPS systems were not running at optimal efficiency, and some exhibited worrying signs of health deterioration. By collaborating with onsite teams to adjust key settings, we achieved 3,650 MWh in annual energy savings and helped operators address a potential UPS risk before it became a reliability issue.

Join the Lucend journey toward intelligent and sustainable data centers

Lucend believes the most reliable data centers are the ones where humans remain firmly in control. Our platform is designed to empower operators—not replace them—by giving teams the transparent, daily intelligence they need to make confident, high-impact decisions across their environment.

By combining AI-driven insight with the expertise of on-site teams, Lucend enables continuous optimization, meaningful energy savings, and long-term reliability without automation that bypasses human judgment.

Lower energy consumption enhances competitiveness, strengthens ESG performance, and supports compliance with emerging PUE regulations.

Every data center is unique, and Lucend adapts to your environment. Whether your facility operates diverse cooling architectures, electrical systems such as UPS configurations, or other specialized infrastructure, Lucend’s models and experts illuminate the right opportunities while leaving operators fully in command of every decision.

We are proud to have helped our customers save more than 14,000 MWh so far, and we look forward to partnering with more operators as they meet their sustainability and reliability goals, with Lucend as their trusted advisor, not their replacement.
